Responsible Practices at Luxflair
As a family-run business, we are personally involved in almost every step – from selecting products and managing storage to preparing orders for dispatch. This allows us to see directly where materials can be saved, items reused and processes meaningfully improved.
Our aim is not to appear perfect. We would rather show openly what we are already doing today and what we intend to work on in the future.
Solar power from our own roof
Our company building has its own photovoltaic system with battery storage. As most of our electricity is required during the day, we can use a large proportion of the generated energy directly for our offices, warehouse and dispatch operations.
During suitable periods in summer, our own evaluations show that self-generated solar power covers up to 98 % of our operational electricity requirements. The actual proportion naturally depends on the weather, season and current level of consumption. We purchase green electricity to cover our remaining requirements.
Every step counts in the office
Our bright workspaces are equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting. Presence sensors ensure that lights remain switched on only where they are currently needed.
The building’s insulation, together with controlled ventilation and shading, helps us reduce the amount of energy required for heating and cooling.
Charging stations are also available to our employees, allowing suitable electric vehicles to be charged free of charge.
Working digitally and saving paper
Many of our processes at Luxflair are organised digitally. Invoices, for example, are sent automatically by email. We also process order information, product data and internal workflows largely in digital form.
An online retail business cannot operate entirely without paper. However, we try to limit printing to what is genuinely required to process an order.
Our online shop and its servers
We also take a closer look at the digital services we use. Our hosting provider, ALL-INKL.COM, states that its data centres are powered by hydroelectricity that meets specified TÜV SÜD criteria.

Thoughtful packaging
Your order should arrive safely. At the same time, we want to make sensible use of packaging materials that are already available.
Where possible, we therefore reuse clean and sturdy shipping boxes. Your parcel may occasionally arrive in a box with minor signs of previous use. To us, that is a positive sign: the packaging is serving its purpose for another journey.
Turning old cardboard into protective packaging
Boxes that are no longer suitable for shipping do not necessarily have to be discarded immediately. We use our own cardboard shredder to process clean cardboard remnants into protective packaging material for new orders.
This gives existing material a second use and reduces the amount of additional plastic filling material we require.
Giving returned products a second chance
A returned item does not automatically become waste. We carefully inspect every suitable product and determine whether it can continue to be used safely and as intended.
Depending on its condition, the product is cleaned, repackaged and offered for sale again. Items with minor cosmetic imperfections are clearly labelled and sold as seconds.
We also pass selected products on to organisations that can put them to good use. For example, kindergarten groups have already received seat cushions from us.
Our ideas for the future
We would like to continue looking for opportunities to create something meaningful in our local area. One idea is to acquire suitable land on which flowering meadows and pollinator-friendly areas could be established and maintained over the long term.
This is currently a plan rather than a completed project. If it develops into something concrete, we will be pleased to take you along and explain openly how the areas are created and maintained.
Continuing to improve, step by step
Responsible practices consist of many decisions, both large and small. Some can be implemented quickly, while others require time, new solutions or better information.
